Much lamented unbuilt extension of the Bakerloo line to Camberwell - tunnels exist almost half a mile towards Camberwell from Elephant & Castle. Plans abandoned in 1948 but hopeful residents still dream of completion LINKS      CONTACTS      SUGGESTIONS        The most work to build an underground outside London happened under Manchester in the early 1970's. Detail from Manchester's unbuilt PICC-VIC. Piccadilly & Victoria mainline stations would have been linked via new tunnels under the city

Underground and urban railways exist on every populated continent. Many have had official proposed extensions which were half started or never got built. Meanwhile idealists and visionaries have doodled wildy, dreamed aimlessly and prepared pointless plans of pure fiction for proposed new public transport systems to cover their city but sadly (or perhaps in some cases happily) these are never likely to materialize.

This site is mainly dedicated to rail based tunnel proposals that never saw the light of day! Unlike most of the PipeDreams listed it's a site that's constantly 'UNDER CONSTRUCTION' so please feel free to suggest other plans that havn't been included, or your fantasy metro line or correct any errors you spot!
